In a strong environmental stand, over 20 Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), including Leaders' Club Nagpur, came together under the Kalpataru initiative to oppose the proposed Inter-Modal Station (IMS) project in Ajni. The united front raised concerns over the loss of Ajni's green cover, advocating fiercely through the Ajni Vann campaign.
The coalition claims that the IMS proposal is a commercial project in disguise, with no real employment benefits for local youth. They emphasized the importance of preserving Nagpur’s natural assets and challenged the developmental claims made by business stakeholders.
This collaboration of NGOs marks a bold step in citizen-led advocacy, highlighting environmental preservation as a priority over unregulated urban expansion.
