KALPATARU
Environmental Conservation
What is Kalpataru
Kalpataru (कल्पतरु) is the symbol of nature’s generosity — the wish-fulfilling tree that sustains life.
In today’s world, Kalpataru is not just a myth, it is a movement to protect, preserve, and regenerate our environment.
-
Literally, it means the tree that fulfills every need.
-
Environmentally, it represents air, water, soil, and biodiversity that nurture us every day.
For us, Kalpataru is a commitment to conserving resources, planting trees, and creating a greener future.
Why Kalpataru matters?
-
Trees give us Oxygen & Life
-
Nature balances Climate & Water
-
Conservation ensures Future Generations thrive
Kalpataru teaches us: when we protect the environment, we protect ourselves.
Why is Environmental Conservation Necessary
Environmental Conservation is the foundation of life. Without a healthy environment, neither humans nor society can thrive.
-
Protects Biodiversity: Conserving forests, wildlife, and ecosystems that maintain balance.
-
Recures Resources: Safeguards clean air, water, and fertile soil for survival.
-
Fights Climate Change: Reduces carbon emissions, global warming, and natural disasters.
-
Ensures Sustainability: Preserves resources for future generations.
Because when we conserve nature, nature conserves us.
“Plant hope, grow life, save Earth.”
WHAT WE DO
We believe that every small step towards nature creates a ripple of change. Through Kalpataru, our initiative for environmental conservation, we take purposeful actions to protect, preserve, and nurture the environment.
Through Kalpataru, we take simple yet impactful steps to protect nature:
-
Tree Plantation: Restoring green cover and fighting deforestation.
-
Cleanliness & Waste Managemen: Encouraging recycling, reuse, and responsible disposal.
-
Awareness Campaigns: Spreading knowledge on sustainable and eco-friendly living.
-
Water Conservation: Promoting rainwater harvesting and efficient usage.
Together, these actions strengthen our mission of creating a sustainable, eco-conscious society — because protecting nature today means securing life tomorrow.

Our Story
As we all know, our beloved Nagpur is not just the Orange City but also the geographical centre of India. But in June 2021, the heart of this city faced a grave threat.
The Government of Maharashtra announced the development of an Inter-Modal Station (IMS) at Ajni — a massive 446-acre project to be executed in four phases. While progress is essential, this plan came with a devastating cost: the proposed felling of 40,000+ trees from the Ajni Van, the green lungs of our city.
This news shook us deeply.
How could we allow the very soul of Nagpur — its trees, its air, its future — to be sacrificed in the name of development?
And so, on 13th June 2021, a group of determined citizens rose together with a single motto:
“Protect our Nagpur, Protect our Environment.”
We launched a signature-cum-awareness campaign, uniting people across communities. That day, more than 10,000 voices signed a petition demanding a stay on the project, proving that when citizens stand together, even the mightiest plans can be questioned.
This movement gave birth to something greater — a collective of hope, courage, and environmental responsibility.
This was the birth of Kalpataru Wing : Born from protest, powered by unity, and rooted in the belief that true development must live in harmony with nature.

Today
Till now, we have worked tirelessly towards protecting and preserving the environment through impactful initiatives. We have collaborated with 20+ NGOs, 15+ colleges, and 8+ schools across Nagpur, successfully organizing 100+ plogging and cleanliness drives at different locations of the city.
-
Every year, during Ganesh Chaturthi, we conduct the Nirmalya Collection Drive, ensuring that floral offerings and garlands are recycled instead of polluting our lakes and water bodies.
-
With a strong commitment to afforestation, we have planted 1000+ trees across Nagpur, creating greener spaces for the future. We also actively raise our voices against deforestation, including protests against cutting 4,00,000+ trees in Ajni Vann, as well as similar issues in Aarey Forest, Karnataka forests, and beyond.
-
Alongside protests, we consistently file complaints against harmful practices and work with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to organize joint drives for safeguarding nature.
