SOCH
Changing Mindsets, Breaking Stigmas

What is SOCH

SOCH (सोच) means Thought. Mindset. Perspective.
It is not just a word – it is the seed of every change.

  • Literally, it means the act of thinking, forming ideas, or having an opinion.

  • Philosophically, it represents a vision — the way we see society, challenges, and opportunities. For us, SOCH is the power to shape mindsets, spark awareness, and inspire transformation.

Because when Soch changes, the world changes.

Why SOCH matters?

  • Thought leads to Action

  • Mindset shapes Society

  • One Soch can start a Movement

Why is Menstrual Hygiene Necessary

More than just a routine — it’s about dignity, health, and empowerment.

Menstrual Hygiene is not a luxury, it’s a basic right.
When women and girls have access to safe and healthy practices during periods, they:

  • Stay healthy : Protected from infections.

  • Feel confident : Without fear or shame.

  • Continue education & work : Without missing days.

  • Gain equality: Wreaking taboos and stereotypes.

  • Live with dignity & empowerment.

A healthy period means a healthier future.

"Menstrual hygiene is not a privilege, it is a right — a right to health, dignity, and equality."

WHAT WE DO

At SOCH (Spreading Opportunities for Change & Hope), we believe that a single thought can change a life. Our mission is to break barriers, create awareness, and inspire action.

What We Do in SOCH:

  • Awareness Campaigns:  Conduct workshops, seminars, and street plays on education, menstrual hygiene, digital safety, and environment.

  • Empowering Girls: Teach self-dependence, leadership, and life skills so that every girl grows with confidence and dignity.

  • Community Outreach: Connect with schools, colleges, and local communities to spread awareness and encourage collective change.

  • Creative Storytelling:  Use theatre, art, and media to deliver strong messages in engaging ways.

  • Collaborations: Work with doctors, educators, and experts to provide practical knowledge and solutions.

  • Youth Mobilization: Inspire young changemakers to become the voice of social reform in their communities.

At SOCH, we don’t just raise issues — we build self-reliant individuals and strong communities for a brighter tomorrow.

Our Story

While working on our educational initiative Pratibimb, we uncovered a harsh reality — even in the 21st century, menstruation is still surrounded by silence, myths, and taboos. In many underprivileged communities, young girls hesitated to even utter the word “periods.” Their discomfort and fear were heartbreaking.

Our volunteers decided not just to educate but to listen — to create a safe space where these young voices could finally open up. Slowly, the hesitation gave way to trust, and conversations about menstrual hygiene, self-care, and dignity began to flow.

This powerful experience gave birth to SOCH — a movement of change.
Through SOCH, we:

  • Break myths and taboos about menstruation

  • Educate girls  on menstrual health and hygiene

  • Teach the importance of good touch & bad touch for safety

  • Distribute sanitary pads while teaching correct usage & safe disposal

  • Encourage young girls to be self-dependent and confident

For us, SOCH is not just about hygiene — it is about empowerment, dignity, and freedom. We dream of a society where every girl can embrace her period with pride, without shame.

SOCH is more than a program; it’s a thought, a conversation, and a revolution.

The Beginning

On 24th January 2022, the Green Leaders Foundation proudly launched SOCH at Ram Nagar, Nagpur. More than just an event, it was the birth of a thought-driven movement committed to breaking taboos and reshaping mindsets around menstrual hygiene, gender equality, cleanliness, and education.

The day came alive with inspiring speeches, creative poster displays, placard demonstrations, and heartfelt discussions with the local community. A powerful pledge ceremony encouraged everyone present to stand as ambassadors of change.

We were honored by the gracious presence of Swati Mohod Ma’am (Professor, YCCE) and Priyanka Sharma Ma’am (Faculty of Communication), whose support added strength to our mission.

The overwhelming response from the community proved one thing—SOCH is not just an initiative, it is a movement of awareness, dignity, and empowerment.

The encouraging response inspired us to spread the message further:

  • 15th April 2022: A special workshop was conducted at Ashok Nagar for 60+ adolescent girls.

  • 29th May 2022: We collaborated with local health experts in Kamptee to reach 80+ women and school-going girls.

  • 3rd July 2022: Our awareness drive extended to rural Gada Village, where for the first time women participated in open discussions on menstrual hygiene.

From just one awareness talk, SOCH has now grown into regular workshops, distribution drives, and self-dependence sessions across urban and rural communities.

Today

SOCH has empowered 700+ girls and women to embrace hygiene, health, and confidence without shame or fear.
We not only provide knowledge and sanitary essentials but also train girls to be self-dependent, teaching them life skills, leadership, and the courage to say “Yes, periods are natural.”

Because we believe:

  • Menstrual hygiene is not a choice—it’s a necessity.

  • When girls feel confident, communities thrive.
